J.D. Cronise
Founder, frontman, and principal songwriter of Austin's The Sword, the band that helped revive riff-driven retro doom and stoner metal in the mid-2000s. Cronise built the sound on Sabbath-sized, down-tuned riffs played on a 1979 Gibson Explorer through Orange amps -- a lifelong Orange user since 1998. The Sword's 2006 debut Age of Winters and its track 'Freya' (featured in Guitar Hero II) made them a gateway band for a generation of young doom fans.
