Kemper OS 14.0 Public Beta Brings Profiling 2.0 With 100K+ Frequency Analysis

Kemper's biggest software update in years overhauls the profiling engine with dramatically higher resolution analysis. Early testers say the difference is audible, especially on high-gain amps with complex EQ curves.

Kemper has released the public beta of OS 14.0, and the centerpiece is Profiling 2.0 -- a ground-up rebuild of the profiling engine that has defined the Kemper Profiler since its launch over a decade ago.

What Changed in the Profiling Engine

The original Kemper profiling process analyzed your amp across roughly 10,000 frequency points to build its digital replica. Profiling 2.0 increases that to over 100,000 frequency points, with additional analysis passes that capture power amp sag behavior, speaker interaction dynamics, and how the amp responds to different pick velocities.

In practical terms, this means profiles are now more accurate in the areas where the original system sometimes fell short: the low-end tightness of high-gain amps, the touch sensitivity of Class A amps like Vox designs, and the complex midrange character of amps with active EQ circuits (like Mesa/Boogie Mark series amps).

The profiling process itself takes longer -- approximately 3 minutes compared to the original 90 seconds -- but Kemper says the result is worth the wait.

Compatibility

Profiling 2.0 is available on the Kemper Profiler MK2 (rack and toaster) and the Kemper Player. The original Profiler MK1 can play Profiling 2.0 profiles but cannot create them, due to the additional processing power required during the capture phase.

All existing profiles remain fully compatible. You do not need to re-profile your collection. However, Kemper says that re-profiling amps with the new engine will yield noticeably improved results, especially for high-gain amps.

New Liquid Profiling Parameters

OS 14.0 also expands the Liquid Profiling system introduced in OS 10. Two new parameters have been added:

  • Power Sag -- Controls the simulated power amp compression behavior, letting you dial in more or less sag independently of the profile's gain structure
  • Speaker Resonance -- Adjusts the low-frequency resonance interaction between the power amp and speaker, which affects how the low end feels under your pick

These parameters work with both new Profiling 2.0 captures and existing Liquid Profiles.

How to Get the Beta

The OS 14.0 public beta is available through Kemper's Rig Manager software. As with any beta firmware, Kemper recommends backing up your entire rig before installing. The beta is stable enough for home use and rehearsal, but Kemper advises against using it on critical gigs until the final release.

Forum reports from beta testers have been overwhelmingly positive. The most common observation is that Profiling 2.0 captures feel more like the original amp under the fingers, particularly in how they respond to volume knob rolloffs and pick dynamics. If you are a Kemper user, this update is worth watching closely.

The final release of OS 14.0 is expected in Q2 2026.
