Crawling

Crawling is built on contrast: brittle, atmospheric clean verses under Chester Bennington's restrained vocal, detonating into a wall of detuned power chords on the chorus. Brad Delson cut Hybrid Theory on a PRS through a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier, tuned a half step down to Eb standard. The guitar plays a supporting role to the band's electronic and vocal layers — the recipe is less about a complex chain than nailing the clean-to-heavy swing with a tight, scooped Recto chorus tone.
