The riff is deceptively simple: his 'Soul Power' Stratocaster (Seymour Duncan Hot Rails bridge) straight into a 50-watt Marshall JCM800 2205 lead channel and a Peavey 4x12. The famous warbling wail is in the SOLO, not the riff -- Morello tremolo-picks the high E through a Cry Baby wah fed into a ring modulator. Drop D tuning (D-A-D-G-B-E).
