Josh Homme's churning, mid-forward riff from Songs for the Deaf (2002). Producer Eric Valentine tracked the album to tape at Sound City through a deliberately 'wrong' palette of solid-state and bass amps (Ampeg V-4B, VT-40), miked off-axis for a thick low-mid body. The grind is a fuzz -- read as a Univox Super-Fuzz -- pushed by a Boss SD-1, with a GE-7 boosting around 400 Hz. Two whole steps down in C standard for a fat, rolling low end.
