The savage opener of Deftones' 2003 self-titled album — a frantic, tremolo-picked wall of chug that announced the band's heaviest record. Stephen Carpenter tracked it on a 7-string ESP loaded with an EMG 81-7, tuned down a step and a half to a low G# (G#-C#-F#-B-E-G#-C#). The gain came from his Marshall JMP-1 rack preamp into a Marshall 9200 power amp and a close-miked 4x12, with Terry Date producing.
