The Sword's best-known song -- a galloping Sabbath-meets-Viking riff from 2006's Age of Winters that exploded after it landed in Guitar Hero II. J.D. Cronise and Kyle Shutt double-track the riff in C standard, two whole steps down, for a thick wall of mid-rich British crunch. Self-produced and cut DIY in Austin: per Shutt the guitars ran a Maxon DS-830 Distortion Master into a borrowed Laney AOR, while Cronise's defining live voice is a 1979 Gibson Explorer into a cranked Orange OR100.
