Papercut

The tight, scooped nu-metal rhythm tone that opens Hybrid Theory. Brad Delson's 'Papercut' is built on a PRS run into a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier on the Modern channel — cut at NRG Studios with Don Gilmore, half-step-down and dropped to Drop C# for a low, percussive chug that locks into Mike Shinoda's verse. The Recto supplies a compressed, gated wall of gain; a Boss NS-2 keeps the high-gain noise floor silent between the syncopated palm mutes.
