Tom Morello's octave-leaping solo on Audioslave's 2002 debut single — a low-string G-minor figure jumped up by octaves with a DigiTech WH-1 Whammy, thickened with delay. Recorded with Rick Rubin at Cello Studios on Morello's longtime Marshall JCM800 2205 (lead channel) into a Peavey 4x12. His 'Soul Power' Strat carries it: the bell-clean verse comes from the neck Fender Noiseless with the guitar volume rolled back; the solo bites on the Seymour Duncan Hot Rails bridge.
