Cut the Cord

The pummeling lead single from Shinedown's 2015 album Threat to Survival. Zach Myers tracked it on a PRS SE tuned a whole step down to D standard with heavy .011-.052 strings, run through his Axe-Fx II -- patches built on a Diezel Herbert and a Fryette -- into a Diamond 4x12. It's a tight, percussive, low-tuned chug with a noise gate clamping the chug-stops, the kind of modern high-gain rhythm that lives on right-hand mute control.
