Psychosocial

The crushing drop-A riff from All Hope Is Gone. Per Mick Thomson's 2008 Guitar World interview, the rhythm tracking was a Marshall JCM800 2203 with a Maxon overdrive in front — the boost set low to tighten the very low tuning, not to add gain. Jim Root's side blended an Orange Rockerverb 100 with a Diezel Herbert. Cut with Dave Fortman at Sound Farm in Iowa, the tone is a tight, mid-present Marshall high-gain built to keep the low A articulate.
